Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette Review & Swatches

For the past few months, I've been seriously wanting to add a new eyeshadow palette to my collection. Lucky for me, Urban Decay recently released the Vice 2 palette! If you know anything about my love for Urban Decay, you know I purchased this palette the moment I found out about it! This is the sequel to the Vice palette, which I blogged about here.
This palette includes 20 all new shades:

Top Left: Smokeout (dark taupey-black satin), Lovesick (black matte w/iridescent micro-glitter), Shellshock (bright metallic silver), Coax (medium metallic pink w/golden iridescent micro-sparkle), X-Rated (baby pink satin)

Top Right: Prank (deep navy matte w/turquoise floating pearl), Madness (bright metallic blue shimmer w/blue micro-glitter), Strike (antique gold shimmer w/silver micro-glitter), Stash (deep olive green shimmer w/iridescent micro-sparkle), Poison (charcoal satin w/iridescent micro-sparkle)

Bottom Left: Radar (metallic brown shimmer w/iridescent micro-glitter), Damaged (bright metallic emerald shimmer), Voodoo (metallic purple shimmer w/iridescent purple micro-glitter), Betrayal (bright purple satin w/blue shift), Derailed (medium metallic taupey-brown shimmer)

Bottom Right: Dope (warm champagne satin), Toxic (metallic copper-pink shimmer w/tonal micro-glitter), Habit (light nude matte), Ambush (metallic brown satin) and Rewind (medium brown matte).

As was the case with the original Vice palette, this palette consists of bright shades, neutrals, and smokey shades that are perfect for those who like to be adventurous with their eye makeup! The bottom row is perfect for every day wear and the top three rows are great for adding a little fun to your eyeshadow routine. All of these shadows are highly pigmented, velvety, and very blendable. I find Urban Decay's eyeshadows to be of the highest quality and this palette does not disappoint. The only thing that would make this palette better is if it had a few more matte shades, since I've recently fallen in love with matte eyeshadow.

The original Vice palette sold out and I'm sure this one will too so don't miss out! Vice 2 is currently available on UrbanDecay.com for $59 and will be available in stores soon.

If the shades in this palette are a little too bold for you, I recommend the Naked or Naked2 palette. You can see my comparison of the two here.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick Review and Swatches! (69, Anarchy, Turn On & Fiend)

If I'm being honest, I've never been much of a lipstick person. I have always preferred a stain, gloss, balm, tint.. anything other than lipstick. Well I'm here to tell you that I am now in love with lipstick thanks to my bff's over at Urban Decay.

It all started out when I got a sample (Anarchy) in my ipsy bag. I quickly fell in love with that sample so I ordered 2 others (Turn On & Fiend) in full size. Then I got another sample (69) with my Urban Decay Vice 2 palette (review to come!). So basically I just wanted to tell you all about this lipstick and show you these 4 fabulous shades that I love and you probably will too!
(69, Anarchy, Turn On & Fiend)
Color descriptions from the UD website:

  • 69- bright red w/pink undertone
  • Anarchy- bright fuchsia
  • Turn On- rosy pink
  • Fiend- muted rose

These lipsticks have incredible pigment and go on very creamy and smooth. They are hydrating, not drying and they last a very long time (5-6 hours!) on your lips. Also there's no funky smell or taste, which is a huge plus! All of these factors plus the fact that the colors are insanely gorgeous have made Urban Decay's Revolution Lipstick my new go-to lip product.

There are so many colors available ranging from bright and bold to neutral and everyday shades. There are also some more sheer shades, so they've definitely got something for everyone! At $22 each, these are a bit pricey but in my opinion, they're worth every penny!

What's your favorite lip product?

*I was not compensated in any way for this post. All opinions are my own.*

shout-out to my fab co-hosts, katie and meg!

i'm currently subscribed to TWO monthly boxes: ipsy and julep.

ipsy is a monthly beauty bag consisting of 4-5 beauty products that costs $10/month!

here's what i got in my august ipsy bag:
Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick
Pixi Beauty Lash Booster Mascara in Blackest Black
MicaBeauty Eye Shadow in Bronze
Michael Todd Jojoba Charcoal Gentle Exfoliating Facial Scrub
Chella Dazzling Dark Brown Eyebrow Color Pencil
BONUS for referring new members: Urban Decay eyeshadow

once again, this month's bag was full of great, practical beauty products. the only thing i didn't like was the MICA eyeshadow and that's just because i am not a fan of loose powders. i tend to be very messy with them! :) i did fall head over heels in love with urban decay's new revolution lipstick! i expected a super tiny sample but was please with the size and the gorgeous bold color of it! i actually loved it so much that i have already bought 2 full size! they may even get their own blog post because they are that great. also, i was pumped to see that i was sent an urban decay eyeshadow as a thank you for referring new members!

ipsy continues to bring the awesome! the main difference i see between ipsy and other subscription boxes is that they actually send you makeup! no, i don't fall in love with every single product i receive, but it's better than a subscription box that sends you a new facial cleanser or body lotion every month.. BORING. i can't believe i spent so much time with birchbox!

The Time I Met Ian Somerhalder!

Let me tell you a story.. a story about the time I met IAN SOMERHALDERYes, THE Ian Somerhalder!

The story begins in December 2012 when I found out that the popular Vampire Diaries convention would be coming to Dallas, Texas in the summer of 2013. As soon as I found out that Ian would be in attendance and that you could buy a photo op with him, I knew I had to be there. So I purchased my photo op ticket and then began my countdown to August.

Luckily time flew by and before I knew it, my sister and I were making the 4 hour drive to Dallas. I'm not going to lie, I was so excited/nervous all weekend! Not many people get the chance to come face-to-face with their favorite celeb, so I wanted to make the most of the experience. We honestly didn't spend much time at the convention itself. When we arrived in Dallas around 3:00pm Saturday, the convention had already been going on all day with several other Vampire Diaries stars appearing that day. Ian was appearing on Sunday and that was really the main thing I was there for so we skipped the Saturday convention events. Note: Paul Wesley was supposed to be there too but he cancelled last minute due to filming. BOO!

Sunday morning we got up and start getting ready and I started getting really nervous!! I just couldn't wrap my head around the fact that in a few short hours, I would be meeting Ian Somerhalder! I had heard that my interaction with him would be incredibly quick, but I was still stressing myself out trying to think of something cute/funny/unique to say to him. Nothing I could come up with seemed good enough. I decided to just wing it.

Outfit check!
We headed downstairs to get in line for my photo op a little before 11:00am and there were already hundreds of people in line. I was scheduled for the 12:00 photo op time. Everyone was lined up throughout the halls of the hotel and we slowly inched closer to the room Ian was in. You had to leave all of your belongings (camera, purse, phone, etc) outside of the room, but there was a professional photographer set up taking the pictures. At about 12:15pm, I walked into the room to meet him. There were about 5 people in front of me in line once I got into the room so I was able to see him from afar and take a minute to try to get myself together so I wouldn't act like an idiot when my time came.

OMG. This is actually happening..
Before I knew it, it was my turn! He greeted me with a big smile and a tight hug (as evidenced in the picture below)! He was so friendly (AND SO ATTRACTIVE) and seemed genuinely happy to be meeting and interacting with his fans. I really wish I had video of my interaction with him because it happened SO fast and it was so overwhelming, but basically it went something like this:

IAN: "Hi!"
ME: "HIII!!"
IAN: *Tight hug* "How are you? Thanks for being here!" *Smile for picture*
*We detangle from the hug of all hugs*
ME: *Uh oh. I'm about to word vomit!* "So, Ian, I think I need a kiss on the cheek!" (Haha! I'm so embarrassed typing that out. I don't know where that came from or how I got the nerve to say it!)
IAN"But if I kiss you then I have to kiss everyone.." *Puts his hand on the side of my face/in my hair and pulls me close for a hug and to whisper in my ear* "So shhh! *Smooch*" It wasn't a blatant cheek kiss, but more like a discreet one while he whispered in my ear. I think he was trying to avoid an onslaught of demands for kisses. I don't blame him.

If this isn't an engagement photo, then I don't know what is.
I know so many of you wanted me to say something to him about the fact that I tweet him all the time and he never responds. Honestly, part of me wishes I would have. I was just too overwhelmed to be on the top of my game. I should have known better than trying to wing it. I guess my word vomit about a kiss on the cheek did work out in my favor though! Haha!

I have no idea what happened between the cheek kiss and me leaving the room. Did my mouth drop open in shock? Did I say anything? Honestly, I don't know. All I know is that eventually I made my way back into the hallway to find my sister. If you want to see my true reaction the moment I walked out of the room after meeting him, click here. I didn't even know my sister was recording me. Total fangirl reaction! Lol.

After the photo op, we headed into the ballroom to grab our seats for his panel. We got to see Kat Graham and Torrey DeVitto's panel also while we waited for Ian to finish up the photos. It was so fun to see him up on stage and answering questions and interacting with the crowd. This panel was supposed to be him and Paul Wesley together and I have heard that they are just hilarious together, so I was a little bummed that Paul cancelled. At the same time, I can't complain about an hour panel with Ian by himself. I was just trying to soak it all in, so my sister was my photographer for the weekend and got some awesome pics during the panel.

Swooooon!

It was such a fun experience that I will never forget. Honestly, I wouldn't hesitate to do it all over again next year. Next time, I'll be sure to allow more time to participate in other parts of the convention because I heard that it was so much fun!

here's what i got in my july ipsy bag:

so this is my second ipsy bag and although it wasn't as awesome as the first, it was still pretty good! the samples are all large or full size (one of my major issues with birchbox was tiny sample sizes). these products are also all very practical and useful. the only thing i was disappointed in was the eyeshadow. it looked like it had potential, but even with eyeshadow primer, it only lasted a few hours on my eyelids. also included in my bag was this baublebar bracelet since i referred two new members! kind of a fun way to get credit for referrals instead of just a points system! two months in and i'm very happy with my ipsy subscription!

recent beauty faves!

revlon colorstay foundation for combo/oily skin- my friend meg basically forced me to try this one and i am so glad that she did! i had never found a drugstore foundation that i really liked, but i'm happy to say that that is no longer the case! this product provides excellent coverage, lasts a long time on my face and does a great job of keeping my face from getting too oily. oh, and there is also a formula for normal/dry skin.

rimmel stay matte pressed powder- this is another awesome beauty find that i learned about thanks to meg. i am constantly on the look out for products to keep my face looking matte and my pores minimized and i really like this powder. i do still need a touch up after 5 hours or so, but i'm happy with this product and the fact that it's cheap makes it even better!

rimmel natural bronzer- i randomly picked this up in the shade 'sun light'. it is a great matte bronzer that is nicely pigmented but not too dark. it is blendable and is perfect for contouring.

anastasia perfect brow pencil- i have been wanting to pick up one of these anastasia brow pencils for so long, but i kept putting it off since my bangs cover up my brows most of the time. after trying out a few drugstore brow pencils and being unsatisfied, i finally splurged on this pencil! i chose the medium brown color and it's a perfect match. though the price is high, this pencil will last me forever. i also really like that the other end of the pencil has a built in brush.

too faced 3-way lash lining tool- my friend terri suggested this product to me and i was hesitant to try it because i've been in love with elf's cream eyeliner for a while now. basically there are 3 ways to use this product: by dotting between lashes at the root gives lashes a fuller look without even using mascara, tight lining (lining the inside of the eye or at the base of eyelashes), and normal eye lining with the triple tip to give a triple coat of the blackest black liner. the triple tip is also perfect for cat eyes. this is a fun, versatile product that does have a little bit of a learning curve. i love it because not only can you use it in a variety of ways, but it is also very pigmented, goes on smoothly and doesn't smudge.

have you tried any new beauty products lately?
