so, it's been a while since i've done a post about books. my excuse is that up until a week or so ago, i hadn't read anything in a long time! i finally got a library card, so i'm back on a reading kick! here are a few of the books i've read recently. they are all the first book in a series and they are all very good. i highly recommend them all. keep in mind, they are all young adult fiction/fantasy/romance/whatever, so if you don't like that genre then don't bother with these! oh yeah, and you should add me on goodreads!

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1)
from goodreads: When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know..
Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush #1)
from goodreads: Romance was not part of Nora Grey's the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgment.
But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For she is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost Nora her life.

Matched (Matched #1)
by Ally Condie
from goodreads: Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate... until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.
The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

I LOVE City of Bones (I own the whole series!)and Hush Hush! Am yet to read Matched but will probably give it a go :D Great choices!
I totally need to get back on the book wagon. My closest thing to a book is my monthly Redbook.
Shame on me.
All your choices sound good to me! I just finished reading Divergent by Veronic Roth and started the 2nd book of the series Insurgent. Love the first book - and the second hasn't disappointed yet.
Love books too,
your review would be so helpful in picking my next books to read...
City of Bones looks interesting.
I really want to read Matched....it sort of reminds me of the book I read in middle school called The Giver!!!
I read 5 of the Mortal Instrument books - and at book 4 finally figured out that it annoyed me that Clare had to use "biting lips" "tasting blood" and one other thing that I can't quite remember when she had nothing else to say. It was so obnoxious that I couldn't get past it (or the incest) to actually enjoy the story. She has great characters and a great storyline. Her execution is horrible though.
I loved Matched & Hush, Hush!! :)
You HAVE been on a reading kick! Thanks for these reviews, I think I'm got some reading to do :-) Happy Hump Day Tara!
i need to get back into reading =[
I didn't like City of Bones but I LOVED the other two!
P.S. Come join the Blogging Besties Swap, live on my blog today! Make a new friend and get fun goodies in the mail!
I love the Cassandra Clare series and I've read them ALL so far. There are a bunch now. And the Becca Fitzpatrick series? OMG. The last one comes out this fall (book 4) and they are SO DAMN GOOD.
I'm trying to finish up the Riley Jensen Guardian Series written by Keri Arthur. Totally did not think I'd like them and I'm freaking hooked.
Matched sounds like Hunger Games! BRING IT!
I've been debating on reading Matched, how was is? You should be getting Silence in the mail soon! I hope you like it!
I've still got so many books to finish! I've taken a bit f a break.
These sound good! I will be putting them on my reading list :)
Matched sounds intriguing. Adding it to my list!!
I loved Matched, but couldn't get into the second one. Hush, Hush and Crescendo have been on my shelf for a year now, and I know I will like the other series. I've got some readin' to do! ;)
I'm enjoying City of Bones. Just finished Crossed which I loved even more than Matched. So good!
Oh these seem interesting! I feel so behind on my reading. Thankfully I've read some eBooks but I had started a book at the beginning of the summer but only half way through since I keep getting distracted :x
I actually posted the newest Mortal Instruments book, The City of Lost Souls, this week! And I haven't read Matched or Hush, Hush, but both are definitely on my to-read list.
Is Matched good?! Is it like Hunger Games? I haven't heard of it before!
I want to read Matched! Unfortunately I have SO much to read for work right now that it's getting in the way of reading for pleasure. All the stuff I have to read for work is super intense nonfiction (oral histories from people who've suffered human rights crises), and although it's amazing and I really appreciate it, I often need something light/easy to read to balance it all out. I've heard a few people talk about Matched, and it sounds so good!
I've read the entire series to City of Bones and loved it! I got Matched for Christmas but still have yet to read it! I keep hearing it's similar to Hunger Games.
I loved the Crossed series. I haven't finished the 2nd one because I borrowed it from the library on my nook color e-reader and i couldn't finish it in time :(

Currently reading Clockwork Angel, the first of the prequel series from Clare. I read all 4 of the mortal instruments books so far, I'm going to read the 5th after I'm done Clockwork Angel. I really like them, but there's so much info!
