as many of you know, i have been eyeing the too faced: the return of sexy palette for a little while, but i just wasn't sure i could bring myself to buy another $50 eyeshadow palette. well, i couldn't resist that pretty little palette, so i ordered it online (it's a sephora exclusive) and impatiently waited for it to arrive..
when it got here, i was just a little excited about it!
check it out:
my thoughts:
- the colors in this palette, especially the purples, are what immediately caught my eye and convinced me to buy it. unfortunately, i was a little bummed by the lack of pigmentation and blendability of some (not all) of these eyeshadows. i have always been impressed with too faced products, so i expected a little bit more quality and consistency in this palette.
- what really disappointed me was the bottom color in the middle section (primadonna). it looks SO different when applied. it doesn't even look purple at all. :(
- these eyeshadows are pretty shimmery/glittery and i did experience some fall-out with them. i love the glitter, but if you prefer more matte eyeshadow then this is not the palette for you.
- overall, i am happy with this palette, but i did feel a little twinge of disappointment because i had expected this palette to blow me away, but it just didn't. i do consider it to be a pretty solid shimmery palette, i just suggest swatching it in stores before buying it so you know exactly what to expect.
would you buy this palette?

That stinks that the palette disappointed you. I know how much you were looking forward to it. The colors definitely look better in the trays.
I really wanted it when you posted about it initially, but I can't bring myself to spend $50 on anything other than Urban Decay. I know Urban Decay is worth it...not so much with other brands.
i was debating and honestly waiting for your review to see if i was going to get it. booo im sad its not as good as we both thought. least you still look gorgeous :) xo
Your face is awesome. In that Picture, obvs.
my immediate reaction when i saw this palette was "omg, purple!" when I looked at The Icon grouping, so sad that it isn't super "purple-y". And I always have a hard time with glittery shadow, I end up with pre-teen glitter cheeks usually because I must blink like an insane person.
Thanks for the review!
Oh man! Sorry you were disappointed. I kind of am too because I expected the colors to be more bold. What a bummer. I might still get it in the future, I do love shimmery eye shadows!
My biggest complaint with the palette is that the shadows are super powdery. That's not the normal for me in a Too Faced palette-usually I expect that from a Stila palette. in fact, I actually prefer the Too Faced Naked Eye palettes to the UD ones. I had a lot of the same feelings but I think at least it's very wearable for day, which is nice.
Oooh those purples are super pretty! I have a problem with fallout on glittery shadows too. I hate that.
Thanks for this review! In saw this pallette in Sephora last weekend and I was raving at all the color! Maybe I need to try the naked pallette ????
Amazing, amazing, amazing! I think I would absolutely buy this palette! :) I'm still trying to make a dent in my urban decay palette though, so this purchase will have to wait.
Just want to say how much I love your face in that picture, bahaha!
Do you have the Naked or Naked 2 palettes? How would you compare them if you do. I've been wanting to buy them but don't know if I can justify spending the $. I don't like alll my shadow being sparkly though, I like matte for work and stuff
I love some of these color combos. But I'm too cheep to spend that much on eyeshadow, so I'd have to pass on this one.
That sucks! I hate when colors look one way but are different when applied :( Especially for $50!
Hahaha I love your face in that picture
HAHAHA I just busted out laughing your picture is hilarious! Great review!
Great review! I love the greens and purples but I do wish they were a little brighter. I haven't used any too faced products but maybe I'll pick some up when I go shopping. :) Thanks again for the review!
This is why momma sticks to Urban Decay...thanks for the review because I was seriously thinking about trying this one out. Return it. Sephora takes used shadow back...and get you some more U.D. goods!
Shanna
I hate sparkly vampires.
But I like your face.
Love that picture when it came in! I really like the first set of colors. The second set of colors seem kind of bland. The 3rd one I do love love love the two outside colors. I have some of their products that I do realy like don't know if I would get this one though.
Aww. Sorry you were disappointed with it. The colors looks like they would suite almost any occasion! Oh wells. I'm still trying to learn how to use my Naked palette, so no Too Faced for me yet!
normally i would, but i think i'll skip this one
Great review..thanks!! :)
I went to a Sephora in Jc Penny earlier today and ehhhh it's tiny. LOL. I almost grabbed a few pieces of makeup but figured I might as well wait til I go to a real Sephora so I can get all the freebies when you spend over a certain amount of $ since I know I prob will. LOL
Hmmmm, I think I'm still going to have to get it. If I hate it I'll return in. You can return items to Sephora if you used them right? Thanks for the review, I couldn't wait for it!
I love that picture of you! Bummer about the palette!
Glad to get an honest review of the palette...probably wouldn't splurge on this on, but I'm still pining for an Urban Decay palette!
I really want this! I need to get to the store though because from what you say the colors are different.
