FIVE STARS: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

I've read 52 books so far this year and I've decided to do a series of posts called FIVE STARS about the most amazing books I've read this year! Look for several of these posts over the next few months!
***

SYNOPSIS from goodreads:
Diagnosed with Stage IV thyroid cancer at 13, Hazel was prepared to die until, at 14, a medical miracle shrunk the tumours in her lungs... for now.

Two years post-miracle, sixteen-year-old Hazel is post-everything else, too; post-high school, post-friends and post-normalcy. And even though she could live for a long time (whatever that means), Hazel lives tethered to an oxygen tank, the tumours tenuously kept at bay with a constant chemical assault.

Enter Augustus Waters. A match made at cancer kid support group, Augustus is gorgeous, in remission, and shockingly to her, interested in Hazel. Being with Augustus is both an unexpected destination and a long-needed journey, pushing Hazel to re-examine how sickness and health, life and death, will define her and the legacy that everyone leaves behind.

MY THOUGHTS:
Wow! This book is beautiful and raw and heart-wrenching. It is such a real and honest tale of life, love, and loss. I was literally laughing out loud at times and other times, I was straight up ugly crying. Green does an amazing job of capturing your emotions. I cannot think of another book I've read that I had such an emotional reaction to. This book has become my favorite ever. Seriously. You've gotta read it!

You hit the nail on the head with this one! This is the first book that made me laugh out loud on several different occasions and then had me ugly crying. Made me very excited to check out some of his other books!

I read this book a few months ago but never got to discuss it with my book club.

I thought it was such a beautiful book and more realistic and believable than most books. Definitely should be on everyone's 'to read' list.

I had to put this book down and walk away from it at one point because I was crying so hard.

Love love love love this book. Have you read anything else by him? Looking for Alaska made me ugly cry at one point, too. He's really good with the emotional writing.

I am dying to read this book!! I have heard so many good things about it. I don't think it's out in paperback yet though and I have to quit buying hardback books cause I can't wait a little longer for them to be paperback. haha. I need a kindle!

OMG John Green is an absolutely terrific story teller. All of his books are pure wonderment. You should watch his Youtube channel VlogBrothers, if you don't already. DFTBA!
